About Hands-On Hansen

I approach residential work the same way, whether I’m designing a custom furniture piece or taking on a broader home improvement project: by slowing down at the beginning, paying attention to the details that matter, and building with intention.

My work is rooted in craftsmanship, proportion, and respect for the home. The goal is not to chase trends or rush to completion, but to create work that feels considered—both in how it looks and how it lives in a space over time.

A Hands-On, Design-Led Practice

I work directly with clients from the first conversation through final installation. There’s no handoff, no layers of management, and no separation between design and execution.

That hands-on involvement allows each project to evolve thoughtfully. Decisions are made deliberately, details are resolved carefully, and the finished work reflects both the client’s vision and the realities of the space it’s built for.

How I Think About Craft

Every project—large or small—is guided by a few consistent principles:

  • Careful planning before materials are ever cut

  • Sensitivity to proportion, scale, and material

  • Details that feel good in daily use, not just on day one

  • Work that’s meant to be lived with, not treated delicately

Craftsmanship, to me, is less about ornament and more about restraint—knowing when to simplify, when to refine, and when to let materials speak for themselves.

Scope of Work

I take on a range of residential projects, from custom furniture and built-ins to finish carpentry and select home improvements. While the scope may vary, the approach does not.

I focus on projects where design, material choice, and execution are valued—and where taking the time to do things properly makes a meaningful difference in the final result.

Based in Tampa Bay

I work with homeowners throughout Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and the surrounding Tampa Bay area, partnering with clients who appreciate a thoughtful, collaborative approach to residential work.
