About Hands-On Hansen
Hands-On Hansen is a Tampa Bay custom carpentry and home-project business led by Keith Hansen. Based in Ybor City, we take on focused projects that call for careful planning, clean execution, and practical problem-solving—from custom furniture and built-ins to trim work and thoughtful updates.
Every project starts with listening: what is not working, what you want the finished space to feel like, and which details matter most. From there, we define a clear scope and keep communication straightforward from the first conversation through the final walkthrough.
I approach each project the same way, whether I’m creating a custom furniture piece, installing cabinetry or built-ins, or completing carefully scoped finish work: by planning thoroughly, paying attention to the details that matter, and working with intention.
My work is rooted in craftsmanship, proportion, and respect for the home. The goal is not to chase trends or rush to completion, but to create work that feels considered—both in how it looks and how it serves the space over time.
A Hands-On, Detail-Focused Practice
I work directly with clients from the first conversation through completion, keeping communication clear and the agreed scope well defined. Each project is planned around the home, the materials, and the practical details that matter in daily use.
That hands-on involvement helps decisions stay deliberate, details get resolved carefully, and the finished work reflect both the client’s priorities and the realities of the space.
How I Think About Craft
Every project—large or small—is guided by a few consistent principles:
Careful planning before materials are ever cut
Sensitivity to proportion, scale, and material
Details that feel good in daily use, not just on day one
Work that’s meant to be lived with, not treated delicately
Craftsmanship, to me, is less about ornament and more about restraint—knowing when to simplify, when to refine, and when to let materials speak for themselves.
Scope of Work
I focus on custom furniture, cabinetry, built-ins, finish carpentry, interior painting, flooring, trim work, punch-list items, and other carefully scoped non-structural projects.
While the scope may vary, the approach does not: plan carefully, communicate clearly, and respect the home.
Based in Tampa Bay
I work with homeowners throughout Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, and the surrounding Tampa Bay area, partnering with clients who appreciate a thoughtful, collaborative approach to residential work.
